1. Control
channel
The following control channels are
only used to transmit the information of control plane:
Paging Control Channel (PCCH): Downlink
channel used to send paging messages.
Common Control Channel (CCCH): Bidirectional
channel used to send control messages between the network and UE. This channel
is mapped to RACH/FACH transport channel. Identifiers of long UTRAN UE (U-RNTI,
including SRNC) are required in this channel, which ensures the uplink messages
to be sent to the correct SRNC.
Dedicated Control Channel (DCCH):
Bidirectional channel used to send control messages between the network and UE.
This channel is allocated by the network to the point-to-point dedicated
channel of the UE when RRC is built.
2. Traffic channel
The following traffic channels are only
used to transmit the information of user plane:
Dedicated Traffic Channel (DTCH):
Bidirectional point-to-point channel dedicated for one UE and used to transport
user information.
Common Traffic Channel (CTCH): Point-to-point down
link used to transport the dedicated user information for all or a group of
UEs.
